BIOGRAPHY
YURI KUPER
1940 — born in Moscow.
1963 — graduated from the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. Lenin, artistic, graphic department.
1967 — Member of the Union of Artists.
1972 — emigrated to Israel later moved to London.
1975 — moving to Paris.
1983 — acquires the citizenship of the UK.
The most successful Russian artist who has achieved recognition in the West, Yuri Kuper has to his credit more than 110 solo exhibitions in prestigious galleries in the world, Claude Bernard Gallery in New York and Paris, a gallery of lace — Jan- Diteskhaym in Geneva gallery Ball’s Sorokko in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris and London, Yoshi gallery in New York State Museum of Fine Arts named after AS Pushkin Museum of Toulon, Fine Arts Center Sensberi in Norwich, BUKIN -ri de l’institut in Paris, museums Kiorau, Shikaraba, Uzno -no- mori and Shokoku -no- mori in Japan — the only part of their list.
But who Yuri Kuper, art historians tell it is not necessary.
Well known for its magnificent «silver» work with old hammers, spatulas, trunks, his tulips and apples.
"Kuper prefers to paint old things that are covered with the patina of time, as if withered and decayed, but, like an autumn leaf, as the fading glow purchased. The more they marked time, the more they become timeless for Kuper, that is, the clearer their intrinsic aesthetic value…
And if things are symbols Kuper in themselves and in the wider sense of the symbols of the artist, his still lifes symbolize the loneliness and isolation of the artist in the world, loneliness, freely given to him by his creative genius.
